Norse mammen style pyxis by Bonecarverpm Norse mammen style pyxis by Bonecarverpm
This is called the freyr pyxis it is done in a 10th century norse Mammen style out of Elk antler. The freyr on top is cast sterling silver.

it was fun to make i need to make one similar to it soon! HMMM! will have to put Frigga or Freya on top this time not Freyr!

I admire your bravery lol. I have a serious aversion to bones.. I won't even eat meat if there's a bone in it. Eww so gross! Can't touch bones or horns-- they gross me out! :puke:

thank you and i hope that i can make some stuff in the future that does not creep you out ,and i just realized the pyxis is out of elk antler not from a meat bone per say hope that helps.

I think it's some deep seated thing dealing with death lol. I don't like coral neither. I got some and couldn't touch it because it is porous and reminded me of decay and bones and death. :D :rofl:

Thanks! Textile arts seem to be my thing. I did a pair of Celtic knotwork sweaters for my kids, I'm working on getting good photos of them to put up.
