This is a hand bound tooled leather book,its a history book not a bible cover , I did a few years ago. The book took well over 300 hours to fabricate, the case is included in the time frame . It was a massive undertaking

This is wonderful. I love the leather work.
What kind of binding did you use. I am guesing case-bound because I do not see supported cords or a rounded back.

I the tooled 12 oz veg tanned leather and when i bound it I found that it concealed the cords to well.I couldnt take a tool and define the cords or it would have ruined the tooling on the spine. I hand sewed this with waxed hand spun linen thread there are 15 signatures tied to 6 hemp cords, the cords are then bound to 1/4inch cedar boards, ya its a hefty book . This was my first book binding, I know I made a number of mistakes but it came out ok and still exists. thank you very much.

This is stunning. It took my breath away. Bravo on making such a wonderful piece. It's nice to see what skill can come from someone who really enjoys it. The level of detail on this is amazing, my eyes don't know what to look at first.

The detail is just outstanding. It looks like something you'd see in an end of days type movie. The tome that holds the secret to the devils undoing!
I want to get into tooling leather(if that's what you call it?) myself. But I doubt I will ever be able to achieve this skill level.

yes leather tooling is correct.. you know thats what i thought too when i first started thankfully i didnt believe myself for to long!

if its what you want to do DO IT!!! its not about what anyone else EVER says, just DO IT for the fun of the doing and along the way you just might surprise your self. Hopefully you will become better then me. I will be happy then that you didnt believe yourself for to long either.!!
